We’ve partnered with award winning nutrition brand Free Soul to bring you 6 breakfast recipes that are high in protein, packed full of nutrients and minerals, vegan and much more to kick start your morning.

Energising Green Smoothie

(Serves 2)

Ingredients

  • 50g Frozen Spinach
  • 20g Frozen Kale
  • ½ Frozen Banana
  • 40g Frozen Pineapple
  • 40g Frozen Mango 
  • 1 scoop Free Soul Vanilla Protein
  • 2 Tsp Chia Seeds
  • 1 Tbsp Flaxseed 
  • 200ml Almond Milk

Recipe

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender, adding the almond milk last.
  2. If your blender allows, start on low before increasing the power.
  3. Add additional almond milk until desired consistency is reached.
  4. Pour into glasses and enjoy!

Warming Berry Oatmeal 

Ingredients

  • 35g Rolled Oats
  • 8g Chia Seeds
  • 1 scoop Free Soul Vanilla Protein
  • 200ml Almond Milk
  • 50g Frozen Berries
  • Free Soul Dark Chocolate Raspberry Protein Bar

Recipe

  1. Add the oats, chia seeds, protein powder and almond milk to a pan. Stir to combine, ensuring the mixture is smooth and free of lumps. (Add additional almond milk if the mixture is too thick)
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  3. As the oats begin to bubble, lower the heat and add the frozen berries.
  4. Chop your protein bar into bite size pieces.
  5. Remove the pan from the heat and transfer you oats into a bowl.
  6. Top with the chopped protein bar and enjoy a warming berry bowl!

Banoffee Pancake Stack

Ingredients

Pancakes

  • 35g Rolled Oats
  • ½ Mashed Banana
  • 1 scoop Free Soul Vanilla Protein 
  • ½ tsp Baking Powder 
  • ½ – 1 cup Almond Milk
  • Coconut Oil (for frying)

Toppings

  • Free Chocolate Banoffee Protein Bar
  • ½ Banana
  • Maple Syrup

Recipe

  1. Combine all your pancake ingredients in a bowl or in a blender
  2. Mix until the mixture is fully combined and the consistency is smooth (Add more almond milk if the mixture is too thick)
  3. Preheat a frying pan on a high heat
  4. Add a small amount of coconut oil to the pan (this should sizzle, if it doesn’t your pan isn’t hot enough yet!)
  5. Pour your pancake mix into the pan (I use about 1/3 cup per pancake)
  6. Fry until the underneath turns a golden brown and begins to slide around the pan
  7. Flip your pancake!
  8. Continue to cook your pancake until both sides are gold brown.
  9. Repeat steps 5-8 with the remaining mixture, adding more oil when the pan becomes dry
  10. Chop your protein bar and banana into bite size pieces.
  11. Build your pancake stack, add your toppings and drizzle with maple syrup and enjoy!

“Hidden Greens” Chocolate Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients

Smoothie

  • 50g Frozen Spinach
  • 40g Frozen Kale
  • 1 Frozen Banana
  • 1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Scoop Free Soul Chocolate Protein
  • 1 Tbsp Flaxseeds
  • 150ml Almond Milk

Toppings

  • Free Soul Chocolate Brownie Protein Bar 
  • 1 Tsp Chia Seeds
  • Free Soul Chocolate Hazelnut Spread

Recipe

  1. Add all smoothie ingredients to a blender
  2. Blend on low (the smoothie will be THICK just keep blending and scraping down the sides until the large pieces are broken down)
  3. Increase the power and blitz on high until a smooth consistency is reached (you can add additional almond however this will affect the thickness of your finished bowl)
  4. Chop your protein bar down to bite size pieces
  5. Scrape your smoothie into a bowl, add your protein bar, chia seeds and a dollop of Free Soul Chocolate Spread.
  6. Enjoy!

Chocolate Peanut Lava Baked Oats

Ingredients

  • 40g Rolled Oats
  • ½ Banana
  • 1 Scoop Free Soul Chocolate Protein
  • 1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
  • ½ Tsp Baking Powder
  • 150ml Plant Milk
  • 20g Peanut Butter
  • Free Soul Choc Caramel & Peanut Protein Bar

Recipe

  1. Preheat oven to 185oc
  2. Combine oats, banana, protein powder, cocoa powder and baking powder.
  3. Blend for a smooth consistency or simply mash with a fork to keep the texture of the oats
  4. Add the almond in small amounts stirring thoroughly until the consistency is like that of a cake batter.
  5. Grease a small ramekin with olive oil (I use a spray oil for ease!)
  6. Add 2/3 of your oat batter to the ramekin
  7. To the centre add your peanut butter
  8. Cover with the remaining oat batter
  9. Top with your chopped protein bar
  10. Place in the centre of your oven for 25-30 minutes
  11. Take care after baking as your oats will be hot!

Speculoos Overnight Oats

Ingredients

  • 35g Rolled Oats
  • 1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
  • 8g Chia Seeds
  • 200ml Oat Milk
  • 20g Dark Chocolate
  • 5g Coconut Oil
  • 20g Biscuit Spread
  • 5g Coconut Oil
  • Free Soul Speculoos Protein Bar

Recipe

  1. In a bowl combine your oats, protein powder and chia seeds.
  2. Add your oat milk gradually ensuring your mixture is smooth and free from lumps.
  3. Chop your speculums protein bar into bite size pieces
  4. Add your protein bar into the oat mixture, stirring to combine
  5. Transfer your oats to a sealable jar.
  6. In a separate, microwave safe bowl add your biscuit spread and coconut oil
  7. Microwave on full in 10 second increments, stirring after each heating until fully melted and combined.
  8. Pour melted biscuit mixture over your oat mixture
  9. Place in the freezer for 10 minutes (or until the top layer is fully set)
  10. Meanwhile in a microwave safe bowl heat your chocolate and coconut oil in 10 second increments
  11. Stir regularly (ensuring your chocolate doesn’t burn) until smooth and fully melted
  12. Pour chocolate over your biscuit layer on your oats
  13. Place in the fridge for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight)
  14. When ready to eat, crack the top and enjoy a crunchy speculoos jar of goodness.
